Playgrounds for Schools

Playgrounds for schools have to handle recess-sized crowds, several grade levels and a budget that passes a board vote. This collection has 84 products: 61 commercial playground structures for ages 2–5, 5–12 and 2–12, a freestanding climber, 17 freestanding pieces for pre-K and kindergarten, 3 commercial swing sets, and bench and picnic table options. 33 of our playground options come with a shade roof option, and most of those also offer standard plastic roof caps if shade is out of budget. If budget is extra tight, playgrounds can ship with no roof option at all. All product pages list the equipment size, use zone and age range, so you can check against your site requirements. Our playgrounds meet ASTM/CPSC compliance with IPEMA certification. For planning and design assistance reach out from this form or call us and speak to a human and not an AI bot or call center.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a school playground cost?

It depends on how many kids you're planning for. In this collection, the playground structures run from $5,299 up to $80,799, and swing sets are $2,399 to $5,499. Freestanding pieces like spring riders and playhouses are $899 to $4,599, and benches and picnic tables are $599 to $1,129. Those prices don't include freight, which we quote to your school, or installation. A good rule of thumb for a turn-key playground project is to double the cost of the equipment you want to buy. That gets you close to the total project cost, including installation and safety surfacing.

What is the best playground equipment for schools?

Start with your ages and your recess headcount. For grades K–5, a 5–12 structure with climbers and a few slides spreads kids out and keeps lines short. If you have pre-K, give the little ones their own 2–5 area so they're not mixed in with the big kids. You can filter this collection by age to compare options side by side.

Can we get a playground with shade?

Shade is available on a lot of the school playgrounds we carry. 33 of the structures in this collection offer a shade roof option, and many also come with a plastic roof option. You'll see the roof choices on each product page. To browse everything that has a shade option, head to our playgrounds with shade collection.

Where do schools buy playground equipment?

Most schools buy from a commercial dealer like us, on a written quote or a purchase order. We quote the equipment and the freight to your school. For installation, Josh can recommend installers, and your school contracts with them directly.
