Great Lakes Energy and CoBank award three grants each round to local 501(c)3 nonprofits, one each in the North, Central and South regions of the GLE service area. GLE members nominate nonprofits, and members vote to choose the winners. Nonprofits with community projects, such as a park or playground effort, can ask local GLE members to nominate them.

Could a playground win this?

Possible fit Low confidence

The grants support local nonprofits in general, and nothing rules out a playground project. However, recipients are picked by GLE member nomination and vote, and past winners have been mostly food pantries and service groups. A nonprofit could use the grant toward part of a playground, such as shade, surfacing or one play piece.

Great Lakes Energy has teamed up with CoBank, one of its lenders, to create a positive impact in your community by awarding three grants to local nonprofit organizations.

Members are then asked to submit their vote, which helps determine the recipient of the North, Central, and South region grants.
